Warsaw System
In October 2001 a modern fare collection system in public transport was launched in Warsaw. Over 1600 buses, 900 trams and 19 metro stations where equipped with contact less and magnetic equipment. They are a part of the dual ticketing system, at present the largest in Central Europe. After the introduction of the ACS system the income from ticket sale has significantly increased. This proves how high was the fraud problem with the old traditional paper tickets that were replaced with new magnetic and contact less cards. The system permits to define various types of tickets. At present over 30 types are used.
